Il quitte alors définitivement le monde maternant et sécurisant des viscères pour se mettre debout et traverser, contre vents et tempêtes, les obstacles qui obscurcissent encore la réalisation du Soi. Ce processus d'individuation est un combat. C'est pourquoi thorax se traduit par cuirasse et thymus par âme; c'est aussi pourquoi le sternum dessine une épée avec son os xiphoïde en forme de glaive et sa lame osseuse. Quant aux côtes, elles représentent douze arcs costaux placés autour de l'organe vital. Elles donnent ainsi une direction à toutes les quêtes héroïques, quelles que soient leurs formes: l'accomplissement de l'amour par la réalisation du Soi. Pourtant le coeur n'a pas d'identité propre puisqu'il est nommé à partir d'autres parties du corps, comme la petite oreille, l'oreillette, et le petit ventre, le ventricule. Cet espace biologique en forme de cône dessine un passage entre deux mondes. Comme une porte battante, il ouvre du fini vers l'infini. Pour accéder au coeur, il s'agit de quitter le moi du nombril en devenant une a-me, que la langue des oiseaux lit précisément comme étant sans moi . Seul celui qui devient sans moi, dans l'accueil de sa labilité dionysiaque, prêt à l'extase tout en conservant sa lucidité apollinienne, pourra un jour devenir porte, valve, cône: un lieu de pénétration du Souffle pour l'accomplissement d'oeuvres palpitantes
