A time line is learned through interrogation and only hours are left before the nuke goes off. Political considerations hamstring investigators until there is no more time left. The plot is exposed by Chicago gang crimes detectives. The story of a bomb in Chicago may be an international incident, but it is a local problem that requires good police work to save the city. "The Sword of Mohammad" is the story of those police efforts. From the first knowledge of the bomb's existence, through developing leads, following-up on those leads, interrogating witnesses, to locating the bomb itself; this story is told exactly as it would happen in real life. Joseph Ragonese is uniquely qualified to tell this tale. Joe became a police officer in 1968, joining the City of Palos Heights Police Department in Illinois. In 1969 he moved to the Cook County Sheriff's Police Department (Chicago, Illinois). Joe retired in 2005, after a 36 year career where he worked the streets, learning exactly what it takes to be a police officer. During those 36 years Joe spent 12 in the patrol division, 12 as a detective, having been in the State's Attorney Office, Narcotics, Recidivism and Organized Crime, Special Operations and Fugitive Warrant Divisions and his last 12 years on the job was spent in the Gang Crimes Unit. The incidents portrayed in this book reflect his personal experience, insight and knowledge of working the streets.
