About the Author: "...and so," you ask, "who are you?" It's a hard question to answer, but I'll give it a try. I'm a native of the earth. Tom (my husband) and I have had the pleasure of visiting many countries. Of all the countries I've been to, India is my favorite. Camel carts, and tea vendors on the street are some of my favorite sights. Europe, in all its splendor, is beautiful and fascinating. I loved the majestic mountains of Northern Italy, and the rustic hominess of the French countryside. Now, though, I spend my time in a more mundane fashion at home. We live on a little ranchette outside Tucson, Arizona, and just between us...I love it. We sell eggs at the local farmer's market, grow a healthy and beautiful garden, and keep a range of livestock. There's Jack, the retired prima donna show horse, and his herd of goats. Then I have two lovely Jersey milk cows and their heifer friend Feliz, a Dexter. The pig palace houses four porkers, Maybelle, Lulu, Princess and the love of their life...Sampson. The freezers are full, and we eat fresh eggs, produce from the garden, and drink fresh milk daily. Sound familiar? It's the self-sufficient lifestyle of the survivalist. The more you produce, the less you need to depend on the outside world to be functional. So first came the self-sufficiency phase, then the survivalist mentality. I began reading survivalist fiction and found there was precious little of it to be had.
