Fruto de un grupo de investigación en Filosofía Antigua de la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, este libro explora uno de los más enigmáticos y fascinantes conceptos filosóficos que vieron su nacimiento en la Grecia clásica. La phantasía, en efecto, ingresó al vocabulario de la filosofía en el seno de una enconada disputa entre sofística y filosofía. Noción clave para comprender la relativización del ser que estaría implicada en el antropometrismo de Protágoras, la phantasía desempeñará un papel igualmente crucial en Platón, a la hora de dar cuenta de la génesis del placer anticipatorio, como en Aristóteles, al funcionar como enlace entre percepción y pensamiento, saber y deseo. A lo largo de los diferentes capítulos, los autores invitan al lector al análisis directo de las fuentes antiguas y a la reflexión sobre un problema que no ha dejado de suscitar interés dentro y fuera del ámbito de la filosofía: el de las apariencias y los pareceres humanos.

María Elena Díaz (1967) es Profesora en Filosofía (UBA, 1998) y doctoranda en Filosofía (UBA); es docente auxiliar regular de la cátedra de Historia de la filosofía antigua de la UBA, a la que estuvo adscripta durante 1998 y en la que desarrolla su actividad docente y de investigación desde 1999.
Graciela E. Marcos (1954) es Doctora en filosofía (UBA, 1991) e investigadora Independiente del CONICET. Profesora Asociada regular de Historia de la filosofía Antigua en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la UBA desde 1999, ha sido Profesora Titular regular de Filosofía Antigua en la Facultad de Humanidades y Ciencias de la Educación de la UNLP (1996-2007).
