Nash was a pioneer. He left everything he knew and loved behind in India to create a better life in America. Like so many other immigrants, he didn't find a perfect new life, but he and his wife, Naomi, did build a challenging and satisfying one.
In his debut novel, Yagna Dave deftly connects the past to the present with his portrait of the Patels. Nash struggles to acclimate to life in America and worries about his sons' futures. His eldest, Nigel, is coping with troubles of his own. He has grown disillusioned with life in America and with his long-term girlfriend, Nina.
Nigel thinks that the answer to his worries lies in India. He quickly departs for his parents' mother country, greatly worrying them both.
As Nigel searches for meaning in India, a disaster shocks the world and the Patels. The Twin Towers in New York City have been attacked. It seems like the entire world has gone mad.
In Dave's spiritual novel of revelation, identity, and karma, both generations of the Patels will seek out answers to some of life's greatest mysteries. Will Nigel be able to find what he needs in the heart of his cultural homeland?
