About the Book

In a quiet town in Tasmania, Australia; little old Latrobe, a kid named Lashly Brown sits in his treehouse. Nothing out of the ordinary happening here. No lost paths. No Dark Wood where elves and imps battle it out in the twilight mist? Just the usual rudimentary lives of the town folk and town kids; the clatter of their everyday lives clinking like billiard balls in the Hamilton Street Pub on a quiet Sunday afternoon; the gossip, the sometimes legendary tales that Tasmanian's tell. The Folk Memory they feel.
When Lashly Bean Brown falls in love with a goldilocks haired neighborhood girl named Grace and invites her up into his treehouse, a placid romance begins and he slowly finds out she is a little more than what she appears. He recalls the time when he saw her in a different form, dancing over the river ephemeral with fairy wings and he speculates about his world a little deeper while fishing with his buddy Storm or flying into a rage and throwing his brother's dirt bike off a bridge into the river.

Of course, he has valid reasons for his erratic behavior. What with his autistic neighbor Jenkins hunting him down with a scythe for accidentally shooting his dog Woody and the fact that his big brother Blaze, killed and secretly made him eat, his own pet pig Albie and now wants revenge for the destruction of his motorcycle. But it seems, also, there is something abnormal going on here too. Someone or some entity is behind these seemingly ordinary events. Could it be the sinister faun Lurden Underwood who has taken an interest in this neighborhood most of the time assuming the form of a regular black goat chewing the green grass and bleating harmlessly? Or could the Min Min Light that organic gardener Ralph O'fariday captured and keeps in his Military Badge, have something to do with it?
Things are changing fast for Lashly now he's thirteen and he does have something bequeathed to him, a beautiful jewel he keeps secret. A Green Emerald that has been in his care since he was six years old, placed in the palm of his hand by the dying Black Knight who pierced with many arrows perished that night, never to be recovered when darkness fell over the forest.
Things change. Things change in this little town and Lashly is at the center of it. The Great Owl Prime Minister Botak Shimmering pays Lashly a visit as does the sinister faun Lurden Underwood, much is remembered, much is forgotten, some things stays the same, some turn to gold, just like Sunlight on Riverstones the first book of the Wormswood Chronicles.
