Der Brief an die Galater ist als die christliche Unabhängigkeitserklärung bekannt, weil er den Christen im Detail erklärt, dass das mosaische Gesetz und die Forderungen der jüdischen Bräuche nicht anzuwenden sind, weil es jetzt, mit Christus, einen neuen Verhaltensstandard gibt, dem man folgen muss, ein neues System, unter dem wir leben: Das System der Gnade.Der Brief des Paulus an die Galater ist bekannt als der "Große Brief der christlichen Freiheit", weil sein Hauptthema die Freiheit des Christen in Christus ist. Im Galaterbrief verteidigt Paulus das Evangelium gegen die judenchristlichen Eindringlinge in Galatien, die behaupteten, dass die Galater erst Juden werden müssten, um Christen zu werden. Paulus wiederum antwortet, indem er die Rechtfertigung durch den Glauben und das Leben im Geist verteidigt und beweist, dass Gott Heiden auf der Grundlage des Glaubens an den Messias annimmt. Der Brief ist in drei Teile gegliedert: 1) Paulus verteidigt sein Apostelamt (Gal 1-2); 2) Paulus verteidigt die Lehre von der Rechtfertigung durch den Glauben (Gal 3-4); 3) praktische Ermahnungen (Gal 5-6)[1] Der Brief an die Galater unterscheidet sich von den anderen Briefen des Apostels Paulus. Er wurde nicht an eine bestimmte Person und auch nicht an eine bestimmte Gemeinde geschrieben, sondern an eine Gruppe von Gemeinden, "die Gemeinden in Galatien".Dieses Buch (Brief) besteht aus sechs Kapiteln und ist Teil des Neuen Testaments. Es wurde vom Apostel Paulus um 48-57 n. Chr. geschrieben, je nachdem, wohin genau das Buch geschickt wurde und ob es auf Paulus' erster oder zweiter Reise in die römische Provinz Galatien war, ein Gebiet, das heute Teil der Türkei ist.Paulus argumentiert, dass Christen, sowohl Juden als auch Heiden, die vollständige Errettung in Christus genießen. Sie werden gerechtfertigt (3,6-9), adoptiert (4,4-7), erneuert (4,6; 6,15) und zu Erben Gottes gemäß der Bundesverheißung an Abraham gemacht (3,15-18). So befreit uns der Glaube an Christus auf Golgatha für immer von der Notwendigkeit, die Erlösung durch die Werke des Gesetzes zu suchen. Dieses Streben ist ohnehin unmöglich, denn das Gesetz rettet nicht, noch war es dazu bestimmt (3:19-24). Deshalb dürfen die Gläubigen nicht zum Prinzip der Gesetzestreue als Grundlage der Errettung zurückkehren, sonst kehren sie in die Sklaverei zurück (5,1), indem sie sich der Gnade Christi berauben (5,2-4). Vielmehr sollen sie an der Freiheit festhalten, die Christus ihnen geschenkt hat, und in der Kraft des Geistes Gott und dem Nächsten als freie Menschen dienen (5,13-18) und freudig den Willen ihres Erlösers tun (6,2).Die Rede des Paulus zeigt, dass alle legalistischen Versionen des Evangeliums Verfälschungen desselben sind und dass der Genuss der christlichen Freiheit davon abhängt, dass man erkennt, dass die Errettung allein aus Gnade, allein durch Jesus Christus, allein durch den Glauben empfangen wird.
