Introduction:
The transducer is an essential part of every measurement and instrumentation system, which
plays a key role in running a plant or industry with a better quality products at lesser cost and
higher safety of operation. It is a device that converts a process variable or other variable into
an electrical signal, which can be amplified and sent to a local indicator or transmitted to a
remote unit, and is calibrated in terms of the variable. Thus, the accuracy and reliability of
measurement primarily depend on the proper performance of a transducer. In any industry,
the electrical parameters like current, voltage, power, energy, etc. and process parameters like
flow, level, temperature, pressure, etc. are required to be measured very accurately by an
instrument or instrumentation system in order to run the electrical equipment or process plant
with optimum efficiency, the better economy as well as with greater safety of operation. The
storing, recording, and transmission of measured data is an important task of the
instrumentation system in any industry.
