About the Book

He thought he knew everything about love, until she made him redefine it. When Eros, the devil-may-care god of love is pricked by his own arrow, he falls for the most unsuitable of mates, a mortal woman he has been ordered to destroy. Without knowing Eros's true identity, spirited, intelligent Psyche shows the god just what it means to be on the receiving end of his arrows, with all its sweet pain and torment, and all its rapture. The laws forbid their union, and Aphrodite, goddess of beauty and passion, is determined to see Psyche destroyed. Furthermore, the two must deal with their own doubts about themselves and each other which threaten their fragile relationship as much as Zeus's wrath. Will Eros and Psyche become the canon of all that love has the potential to be, or will they follow a tragic path, with lessons learned too late to save them?
About the Author: Jendela Tryst is a pseudonym that combines Latin and Indonesian. Jendela is the Indonesian word for "window" while "Tryst" comes from the root word Triste which has the double meaning of "a secret meeting" and "sorrow." For Tryst, writing is like looking into a hidden window and observing the drama and many times, the heartbreak, of the characters within. In books, she explains, one is able to feel the experiences of others but are always kept separated by a glass that prevents the reader from intervening. For Tryst, that glass is very thin as her writing allows us to experience astounding new lands with vivid imagery and characters so real, they could be your best friends. The Origin of Love series is Tryst's first attempts at novel writing. The trilogy is about Eros and Psyche, a Greco-Roman myth that has a special place in her heart. The theme is Love, and as an unapologetic romantic, comes as no surprise for those who know her. But the true inspiration that motivated Tryst to write the Origin of Love books was the character of Psyche. Tryst explains that Psyche was rumored to be more beautiful than the goddess of beauty herself, Aphrodite, and so, needed to be punished. But the Greeks did not name her after Beauty. They did not name her after Love. No, "Psyche," to this day, means "Mind," "Spirit," "Soul." This really intrigued Tryst who wondered why the root word for "Mind" is personified by a woman who was so beautiful, she brought the god of love, Eros, to his knees. In her imagination, Psyche's beauty could not possibly be simply physical. She had to be intellectual as well. She had to be Reason behind Heart. And Tryst loved, absolutely loved, that Psyche was a woman. So, with all the fury of a woman who truly believed in her work, Jendela Tryst gives us Eros and Psyche. Two deeply misunderstood and underappreciated characters who deserve their time in the sun. This summer will no doubt bring more gory violence where the Greeks are portrayed as bloodthirsty warriors and spilled blood is the answer to all conflicts. But Tryst hopes to introduce the softer side of these ancient philosophers, the ones who saw the potential in love and its ability to overcome some fierce odds.
