Die Opfer von Stress und seinen Auswirkungen jedoch werden immer jünger und sind längst nicht mehr nur in Managementetagen, sondern bereits in der Schule zu finden. Doch warum lohnt es sich überhaupt, sich mit dem Thema Stress und Stressreduktion im Besonderen zu befassen? Ist er nicht ein notwendiger Bestandteil einer jeden Gesellschaft und jedes Individuums? Auf den Umgang mit Stress speziell innerhalb der Institution Schule soll das Hauptaugenmerk im Folgenden gerichtet werden. Gründe dafür, dass selbst Kinder im Grundschulalter schon unter Stress stehen, können sehr vielfältiger Natur sein. Gesellschaftlicher Leistungsdruck, schwierige, zum Teil ungeklärte Familienverhältnisse, zu geringe Unterstützung von außen und Perspektivlosigkeit seien hier nur exemplarisch als mögliche Stressoren aufgeführt. Jedoch entsteht Stress nicht ausschließlich durch schwierige soziale schulexterne Faktoren, sondern häufig genug auch durch soziale Differenzen innerhalb der Interaktionen zwischen Schülern und Lehrern unter sich und miteinander. Welche Rolle spielt Schulklima und ein positives Schüler-Lehrer-Verhältnis bei der Stressreduktion? Ich bin der Meinung, dass durch die Verbesserung sozialer Kompetenzen auf beiden Seiten, die im besonderen bei Lehrern auf fundiertem theoretischen Hintergrund beruhen sollten, die schuleigenen Stressoren stark reduziert werden können. Um allerdings die dazu nötigen Fertigkeiten zu erlangen, ist es vermutlich notwendig, die eigenen sozialen Normen und damit auch sein Selbstbild als Lehrer in Frage zu stellen und gegebenenfalls zu korrigieren.
