The author of this book, Tarun Tejpal, is also a well-known journalist and publisher from India.
Apart from this novel, the author has published two other books, The Valley of Masks and The Alchemy of Desire.
Tejpal was born on the 15th of March, 1963. He completed his degree from Punjab University, Chandigarh, studying Economics. Through the course of career in Journalism, Tejpal has worked as the editor at India Today, Outlook, and the Indian Express Group. In the year 2000, he resigned from Outlook, and launched Tehelka.com, which is an online magazine that has thrown light on key issues such as the Godhra Riots, Naxal Movement, and the Jessica Lal murder case. He has also founded India Ink, which is a publication company that had released The God Of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, which won the Booker Prize. He currently resides in New Delhi, along with his spouse, Geetan Batra.
