Captain Nile Nelson loyally served the Space Naval Force for many years. But after a serious incident in the year 2179, he is court-martialed and sent on a one-way trip to a distant star system.
When Nelson wakes up from suspended animation, he discovers that everything has changed. While he and his crew of misfits were sleeping, a new technology called Starr Drive was invented. Consequently, people from Earth have already arrived at Nelson's destination, the planet Grog-Twanna, by the time his ship gets there-and they've started a war with the natives. At the center of the conflict is the provincial governor, earthling Cy Skailey, who has been robbing Grog-Twanna of its valuable resources, including gold, platinum, and diamonds.
Nelson and his crew quickly ally themselves with a tribe of seven-foot-tall aliens, resolving to try to end the strife between the two planets before it escalates out of control. Can they get back to Earth and expose Skailey before it's too late?
This fast-paced, adventurous tale shows that the small must sometimes take on the mighty and raises thought-provoking questions about humankind's potential to ever achieve peace.
