Länder - Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit, Note: 1,3, Ernst-Moritz-Arndt-Universität Greifswald, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Für die Erforschung einer Stadtgeschichte, aber auch für die Frage nach den Verhältnissen zwischen Stadt und Stadtherren, lassen sich mit Untersuchungen zur stadtrechtlichen Entwicklung vielfältige Erkenntnisse sammeln. Denn gerade in dieser Entwicklung spiegelt sich noch vor der baulichen Entwicklung die Entstehung der stadttypischen Bauten wie Rathaus, Pfarrkirche, Markt und Befestigungen wieder. Im Falle Danzigs wechselte nicht nur der Stadtherr häufig, es kam auch zu mehrmaligen Änderungen im Stadtrecht und auch die Struktur der Stadt sowie ihre Symbolik am Beispiel des Stadtsiegels, sind von diesen Rechtsverleihungen geprägt. Mit der Stadtrechtsverleihung trat die Stadt in eine gewisse Unabhängigkeit oder Autonomie. Diese Begrifflichkeit muss zunächst geklärt werden. Es soll dann in dieser Arbeit aufgezeigt werden, wie sich diese Entwicklung und Autonomiebestrebungen bzw. Beschränkungen abzeichneten. Nach einem Überblick zur Forschungs- und Quellenlage, sollen kurz die Standortfaktoren sowie die ersten Siedlungen bis zur slawischen Burgstadt thematisiert werden, da hier zum einen am Schluss der erste Stadtrechtsverleiher auftritt und zum anderen diese Voraussetzungen maßgebend für die spätere Struktur der Stadt waren. Den Schwerpunkt der Arbeit bildet das Konkurrenzverhältnis zwischen Stadt und Landesherr im Falle des Deutschen Ordens ab 1308. Zur Verdeutlichung werden am Ende auch kurz die wesentlichen Rechtsänderungen unter polnischer Herrschaft ab 1454 skizziert. Die Stadtgeschichte ist dementsprechend in drei größere Teile gegliedert, wobei einige Sprünge zu verzeichnen sind, deren detaillierte Darstellung der Rahmen der Arbeit nicht zuließ. Dem untergeordnet wird ein Einblick in die bauliche Geschichte gegeben, wobei ein kleiner Exkurs zum Artushof den Machtzuwa
