About the Book

This is the life story of Major George P. Davis III, U.S. Army (Retired) and his battle with PTSD, from the time he was in Vietnam until today. Raised in rural West Virginia, he rose through the ranks eventually becoming part of an elite group of Army aviators flying an OV-1 Mohawk for several years. The Mohawk's mission was unarmed reconnaissance and surveillance of enemy movement, with most being flown over enemy territory known as "Indian Country." After several years, he lost the ability to be able to fly as his PTSD kept getting worse and worse. It really hit home after he retired and it has been a full-blown battle ever since, even up until today. His internal battles changed his life and only recently has he been able to begin to cope with them. Agent Orange has also wrecked havoc on his body and added to his psychological issues. This is his story.
About the Author: Major George P. Davis III (USA, Ret.) is a native West Virginian who served his country in the U.S. Army for 20 years, from 1967 to 1987. His time was split between Military Intelligence and Aviation Branches, spending several years as an operational pilot of an OV-1 Mohawk tactical reconnaissance airplane. He flew both Mohawks and UH-1H Hueys in Vietnam. The remainder of his career was spent in the Defense Intelligence Agency as an imagery analyst and working with all of the U.S. deployed forces to provide necessary imagery to satisfy their operational and planning needs. He was presented with numerous awards and decorations for service and valor during his career that saw him in Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, The Pentagon, all over the United States and with world travels in support of the military intelligence needs of the services. He continued working as a government contractor for an additional 24 years in support of the intelligence and law enforcement communities. During this entire time, PTSD has been his constant companion.
