Wie kam es überhaupt zum Sponsoring? Was verbirgt sich hinter den Interessen einzelner Unternehmen am Sportsponsoring? Genau derartige Fragen sind es, welche das Thema so interessant machen. Zunächst wird der Begriff des Sportsponsorings und seine Erscheinungsformen erläutert. Im weiteren Verlauf spiegelt die Facharbeit eine zeitlich chronologische Entwicklung des Sportsponsorings wider. Dabei werden sowohl Parallelen als auch Unterschiede zwischen Sponsoring in der Anfangsphase und dem Sponsoring heutzutage deutlich. Des Weiteren wird das Sponsoring einer Fußballmannschaft im Detail beleuchtet. Dabei werden sowohl die Interessen von Sponsor und Gesponsorten als auch die Vor- und Nachteile, welche beim Sponsoring auftreten, dargelegt. In Anlehnung an die allgemein gehaltenen Interessen der Unternehmen veranschaulicht der letzte Teil diese Aspekte anhand von zwei Beispielen. Bei diesen Beispielen handelt es sich um den Getränkehersteller Red Bull und im Gegensatz dazu um die Stiftung Unicef. Dabei ist es interessant zu sehen, mit welchen Strategien und welchem Konzept sowohl Red Bull als auch Unicef ihre genannten Ziele erreichen wollen. Da es sich um teils drastische Unterschiede dreht, handelt es sich um kein Thema, was auf ein paar Seiten abgehandelt werden kann. So erfordert dieses Thema eine intensive Auseinandersetzung und ausgiebige Recherche, sodass eine Zusammenfassung zu neuen Erkenntnissen führt.
