Gerade auch im Zusammenhang mit der Aufarbeitung sexuellen Missbrauchs gilt es vielmehr, den Blick hierfur zu scharfen. Das Phanomen gefahrlicher "Seelenfuhrer" von Sekten oder aus evangelikalen Freikirchen ist bekannt. Dass ahnliche Praktiken auch in der katholischen Kirche vorkommen, ist entweder ein Tabu oder wird toleriert. Dieses Buch beschaftigt sich mit diesem Phanomen in der katholischen Kirche und will vor allem Betroffenen und Verantwortlichen helfen, es zu verstehen. Was genau fugt Menschen sogar in kirchlich anerkannten und teils angesehenen Gemeinschaften und Bewegungen solchen schweren Schaden zu? Und warum ist das in der Kirche uberhaupt moglich? Doris Wagner nimmt die Perspektive der Betroffenen ein und versucht die spirituelle Dynamik zu begreifen, die hinter den Geschichten und dem Leid der Opfer steht. Sie bietet damit eine allgemeinverstandliche Diskussionsgrundlage fur die Auseinandersetzung mit spirituellem Missbrauch in der katholischen Kirche. Indem sie versucht, moglichst anschaulich zu beschreiben, was passiert, wenn Menschen in der Kirche geistlichen Missbrauch erleben, und indem sie konkrete Falle darstellt, will sie Betroffenen und kirchlichen Verantwortlichen die Problematik bewusst machen. Doris Wagner macht einen Vorschlag, was man unter "Spiritualitat" und "spiritueller Selbstbestimmung" verstehen konnte - und warum diese Selbstbestimmung so wichtig ist. Daraus wird verstandlich, welche verheerenden Folgen die Beschneidung dieser Selbstbestimmung hat und welche Denkmuster und Traditionen sie in der katholischen Kirche ermoglicht und begunstigt. Gleichzeitig erfolgt die Annaherung an die Frage, wie man geistlichem Missbrauch vorbeugen kann und wie Opfer dieses Missbrauchs wieder zu voller spiritueller Autonomie zuruckfinden konnen.
