About the Book

Jack Dawkins was just an ordinary man in his early twenties and he was working in a warehouse for a delivery company. He wasn't particularly interested in the job, but he did know what was wanted of him and so he usually did it. At times, like many people, he could get a bit frustrated but then at other times, he could impress with his diligence at work. His major interest though was that of writing up a kind travel guide. This was just recording wherever he had travelled to. His travels up to the time that we meet him have all been to places within Britain. Yes, he would like to get to other places but that, for him, is just a dream away from reality.
One day he is looking at his travel book and he turns around and sees his old pal Peter. Now Peter had been his close pal, when they were younger, but Peter had got his driving licence, borrowed his uncle's car and he had a crash where he was killed instantaneously
Now if Jack saw Peter there, and Peter was dead, that just made Jack think that the image before him must be a ghost. Peter told Jack that he was dead and that he had come back to try and get some help from his old pal. He doesn't know if he went to Heaven or to Hell but he is an 'inner world' where they just seem to have to wait to get any promotion. If they get involved in anything that can do some good then they may get some bonus points to lift them up a bit in this inner world. Peter tempts Jack by telling him that he can get him some money from some horse racing bets and eventually, Jack gives in and tries. It was so successful that Peter then moves on to suggest a lottery win and that too was successful. Peter then tells Jack that if he can help his friends, to get some bonus points, he could get a lot more money, after all, Peter says, they can't take any material things like money with them to their world.
Jack agrees to meet these other people and before they got to the world that they are in they had been high-flying stockbrokers. Jack does go along with them and they admit that what they are doing would have been illegal in the real world but, as they are only ghosts, no one can trace them or stop them. They carry on getting Jack more and more money until he is acclaimed as the richest man in the world. From there, things start to get even more complicated for Jack and his young wife Jennifer but, together, they do manage to get through the problems.
