Was verstehen Kinder unter Gerechtigkeit und woran messen sie diese? Wie sieht eine kinderrechtsorientierte Schule aus, welche Strukturen werden modifiziert? In der folgenden Arbeit wird zielführend das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen der institutionellen Umsetzung der Forderungen der UN-Kinderrechtskonvention in der Schule und dem Selbstverständnis der Kinder und Jugendlichen gegenüber ihrer Kinderrechte dargelegt. Um die Leitfragen erkenntnisleitend zu beantworten widmet sich der erste Teil dieser Arbeit einem terminologischen und inhaltlichen Aufschluss über die UN-Kinderrechtskonvention aus dem Jahr 1989, sowie die Legitimation dieser unter Einbezug der Notwendigkeit eigener Rechte für Kinder. Daraufhin wird das Selbstverständnis der Kinder und Jugendlichen über ihre Rechte aufgezeigt und analysiert. Die Wahrnehmung und Bewertung der Gerechtigkeit in der Institution Schule wird ebenso thematisiert. Es folgt die Gegenüberstellung einer Untersuchung missachteter Kinderrechte in den Schulen. Im Kontext stehen die Interessen der Kinder und die Chancen eines kinderrechtsbasierten Ansatzes für Bildung und Partizipation. Diesen Erhebungen folgt eine exemplarische Darstellung einer Modellschule des Bildungsnetzwerks Makista und zeigt auf, inwieweit die theoretischen Darlegungen praktisch umgesetzt werden können. Außerdem wird aufgezeigt, welche tragende Rolle der Religionsunterricht für die Schüler*innen und deren Kinderrechte einnimmt. Ein Fazit, welches die erkenntnisleitenden Fragestellungen beantwortet, die Perspektiven beider Akteure zusammenfasst, sowie ein Ausblick auf den Mehrwert für die zukünftige berufliche Praxis der Erkenntnisse schließen diese Arbeit ab.
