Témoignage vécu de la seconde guerre mondiale. Le jeune Raymond Lescastreyres qui, à seize ans, passe du courrier clandestinement à Mont de Marsan et, dénoncé à la Gestapo, doit s'enfuir en Zone Libre où il s'engage dans l'armée française. Après deux ans de classes en Afrique du nord, il débarque enfin en Septembre 1944 en terre française où il participe avec son régiment de Cuirassiers à la libération de l'Alsace et poursuit jusque sur les rives du lac de Constance une épopée victorieuse. Un récit palpitant, illustré d'anecdotes personnelles et écrit avec un grand soucis d'exactitude.
About the Author: Raymond Lescastreyres est né le 18 septembre 1923 à Parentis-en-Born dans les Landes. Engagé volontaire le 21.10.1941 au 3ème Régiment de Spahis Marocain. Muté au 1er Régiment de Spahis Marocains, débarque à Alger en décembre 1941. Rejoint le 3ème Régiment de Spahis Marocains Affecté au 5ème escadron porté, stationné à Casablanca. Nommé Brigadier le 16.2.1943, puis Brigadier-chef le 1.7.1943. Promu au grade de Maréchal des Logis le 1.3.1944. Débarque à Saint Raphaël (Var) sur la plage du Dramont le 20.9.1944. Participe avec son unité aux campagnes de France et d'Allemagne et se trouve à Bregenz (Autriche) en juin 1945. Promu Maréchal des Logis Chef le 1.1.1947 Admis au peloton préparatoire à l'entrée à l'Ecole Spéciale Militaire Interarmes à Coêtquidan en novembre 1947. Intègre en octobre 1948, l'Ecole d'Application de l'Arme Blindée-Cavalerie à Saumur. Promu Sous-lieutenant le 1.5.1949. Affecté au 6ème Régiment de Chasseurs d'Afrique stationné à Spire en Allemagne. Promu Lieutenant le 1.5.1951. Désigné en juin 1952 pour servir en Extrême-Orient au titre de la relève de la Légion Etrangère, quitte le 6ème RCA pour le 2ème REC à Oujda Embarque en août 1952 à Alger avec un détachement de Légion Etrangère sur le Campana et débarque en septembre à Saigon. Affecté au 1er Groupement Amphibie du 1er Régiment Etranger de Cavalerie Décoré de la Croix de Guerre des Théâtres d'Opérations Extérieures en Juillet 1954 Rentre en France en octobre 1954. Muté au 4ème Régiment de Spahis Marocains stationné à Fès en janvier 1955. Est fait chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur En octobre 1955. Promu Capitaine le 2.10.1956. Muté le 1.7.1957 à Saumur au 1er Régiment de Dragons. Quitte Saumur pour le 3ème Régiment de Chasseurs d'Afrique stationné en Algérie Muté au Centre d'Instruction des Blindés de Trèves le 1.9.1962 Promu Chef d'Escadrons le 1.7.1964. Muté le 1er juillet 1967 à l'Ecole d'Application du Génie à Angers. Promu Lieutenant-colonel le 1.4.1972. Promu au grade d'Officier dans l'Ordre de la Légion d'Honneur Prends le commandement du Groupement des Moyens de la 4ème Région Militaire à Bordeaux le 1.7.1973 Muté à la Délégation Militaire Départementale de la Charente Maritime à La Rochelle le 1.9.1976 Promu Colonel le 1.04.1977, des ennuis de santé le contraignent à quitter l'armée en 1978. Raymond Lescastreyres est décédé le 22.12.2007 à Audenge (Gironde).
