Ten-year-old gamer Ptolemy "Sonny" Starr competes for admission to the United Nations Space Academy because he's a wiz at simulated space flight. Sonny is assigned to the Icarus team, along with navigator Roberta "Bobbie" Bonetti, scientist Maddox Maguire, communications expert Fanta de Cruz, and soldier Finn Christiansen. With Sonny as the pilot, they'll be competing against four other teams whose members have been carefully selected from across the globe.
However, unbeknownst to all but those in on the conspiracy, the contestant selection is part of a secret program to eventually evacuate the Earth. The Icarus team has been assembled with the intent to jettison them into outer space. The academy wishes to clandestinely study the effects that space travel will have on them, with the help of sibling robots Amber and Nektar-and they're not supposed to make it back.
On their faster-than-light journey outside the solar system, through a space-time vortex, and into encounters with alien life, the young astronauts receive a crash course in teamwork-and trust.
Sonny Starr versus the Space-Time Conspiracy is a fun sci-fi thriller for young adults, along with anyone else who loves a great adventure.
About the Author: Jeffrey Day is the father of one son, Joshua, and feels passionately that the wonder and sanctity of childhood should be cherished and protected because this precious time ends too soon for so many children.
Since his son was three years old, Jeffrey has told him adventure stories that were so exciting and thrilling that Joshua asked for them to be written down. Sonny Starr versus the Space-Time Conspiracy is the culmination of these stories, and Joshua is the inspiration for the main character.
Jeffrey lives in a sixteenth-century cottage in an old village in Wiltshire, England, with his wife, son, and border collie, Boris.
