About the Book

The book is written for the undergraduate students of Electronics and Communication Engineering. Besides, the book is also useful to the postgraduate students of Applied Electronics and Instrumentation, Electricals and Electronics, Applied Instrumentation and Electronics, and Electrical Engineering.
Semiconductor devices form integral part of all electronic devices. Solid-state devices are the controlling components of both high-tech and very ordinary devices. Written in a lucid language, and organized in seven chapters, the book discusses several diodes-IMPATT, BARITT, TRAPATT diodes-their functions and applications. Semiconductor devices, treated as optical source (light-emitting diode and solid-state laser) and used for detecting light (photodiode and APD), have also been explained in an easy way.
