Seine Schriften und deren Analyse, sowie die moderne Literatur, bilden diese Grundlage und den Untersuchungsgegenstand der Personendarsellung von Seeckts und lassen sich mit der Hauptfragestellung auseinanderzusetzen. Ein Versuch, eine Analyse Seeckts politischer Einstellungen während der Jahre 1919-1921 vorzunehmen. War Seeckt ein unpolitischer Soldat? Oder war er ein parteiischer, opportunistischer, rechtsgesinnter und machtgieriger Offizier wie es die moderne Literatur uns ihn schildert? Gibt es einen Begriff des unpolitischen Soldaten und wo begegnet er uns? Wenn man den Begriff "unpolitischer Soldat, bzw. Offizier" verstehen will, muss man auf die Tradition der preußischen Armee seit der preußischen Heeresreform von Friedrich Wilhelm III und noch stärker seit Bismarck zurückgreifen. Die Anhänger mussten von jeglicher politischer bzw. parteipolitischer Tätigkeit ausgeschlossen und unabhängig sein. Aber laut dem Handbuch zur deutschen Militärgeschichte ist so ein Heer immer mit dem Staatsgedanken identisch. In Weimarer Republik waren "politische Betätigungen" für Soldaten verboten. Die Ablehnung dieser Prinzipien war eine Norm in der Republik. So bildete diese pseudo- überparteiische Einstellung das Kriterium für die Beurteilung der politischen Umwelt und Einstufung der Parteien. Das Prinzip des "Unpolitischen" verkörperten in der Reichswehr vor allem die Generäle Gröner, Seeckt und Geßler. Als nächster Schritt: anhand der Selbstzeugnisse von Seeckt möchte ich der Frage des unpolitischen Soldaten nachgehe
