About the Book

Janet Bodmin, Dee Donnington and Angela Anderson-Shelta first meet in Mid-Wales in the early eighties when the Government is offering cash to local councils to build underground nuclear fallout shelters asking participating councils to test their defences and emergency services with military exercises. This is a great opportunity for the politically ambitious Anthony Anderson-Shelta, husband to Angela, Conservative Chief Executive of the local council, a man who is useless in bed and yet badly wanted by his personal assistant, Ruth Tremlett. Written with a liberal dose of British humour, Jennifer Greens A Small Nuclear Fallout follows the three women as they join the Greenham Common womens anti-nuclear protest movement (much against the wishes of Angelas husband Anthony) and watch as all the well-laid plans of the council gradually fall apart including the anticipated visit of the Iron Lady herself, Margaret Thatcher.

About the Author

In the mid nineteen seventies Jennifer (Jen) Green saw a gravestone and became a writer. Born in Hampshire at the start of a second world war, she is one of the six children. After a basic secondary education she worked for Boots the Chemist before joining the Womens Royal Naval Service attached to the Fleet Air Arm. On leaving the service her career progressed through mechanical engineering into senior posts in university and arts administration in London. This was followed by a move into executive management at the Family Planning Association which helped shape her humorous approach to life. Three years later she discovered the gravestone of Mary Morgan a sixteen-year-old servant girl hanged in 1805 for murder. Obsessed with her plight, Jen left the Home Counties for the Welsh Border, and set about researching the awful tale. Later she became a freelance reporter and feature writer eventually leaving the day job to concentrate on writing full time. Her first book The Morning of Her Day published in 1987 and a second edition in 1990. It was later optioned by Scott Free and a screenplay developed. Jen continues to research and write, her last published novel What Ever Happened to Trixie Skryme is based on the life of the most dangerous and unscrupulous adventuress Scotland Yard had ever set out to capture in the early 20th century, Jen currently lives in Leominster, North Herefordshire and if she ever gets the time can be found at the cinema, watching cricket, writing poetry and exercising her sense of humour with her chums.
