About the Book

This is a heartwarming nature series about a little boy who loves to explore the world around him. When Johnny's single mother is offered a chance to improve their lives, they move from the desert of West Texas to the West Coast fishing village, Fort Bragg, California. Just up the road from Johnny's new home, he discovers a scary looking dilapidated old house. There he finds an elderly, grumpy man who has a dog named Trouble. The man tries to scare Johnny away, but Johnny does not scare easily. Later in the series, Johnny goes back to visit the elderly man and realizes that something is very wrong. The man's dog is straining against its chain and barking wildly at the house. This series is about friendships and difficult decisions. It is also about family and how hard it is to move away from dear friends. Step into Johnny's world and follow him on his adventures where the wildlife and scenery comes vividly alive. This series is packed with action and drama, but most of all, it about people caring about and for one another. In this series you will find horned toads, rattlesnakes, raccoons, birds, ponies, fish, a slug, and a ghost, which are all a good mix for children with inquisitive minds
About the Author: In my series of children's books 'Johnny's Adventure', many of these adventures were my own growing up, on both the desert and in beautiful Fort Bragg, California. I have always loved to explore the world around me, both on foot and on horseback. My love of animals both wild and domesticated and my appreciation of the beauty of the natural world will pull you into these stories. Being very much a tomboy, I loved playing with horned toads and reptiles of any kind. Living in the country we had some very unusual pets, including a monkey. As an adult I shared my love of animals and reptiles with my children. I also taught basic horsemanship, Western and English equitation. Students learned how to groom and tack up their own horses. Safety on and around horses was paramount in my teaching. My students ranged in age from 4 1/2 years to adults. I developed individual lesson plans to suit the needs of each rider. One of my many goals was making sure that after each lesson, students left the ranch with an elevated sense of self worth. In 2001 I was awarded the Trainers Award for the Winter Series by Rock-N-Horse Ranch. The award was based on the total of points that students accumulated from all their ribbons at the end of the season. From 2000-2001 I taught some of the home schooled children from New Jerusalem Charter School riding lessons for their physical education. I also trailered out ponies to off-site birthday parties. I have over 35 years of experience owning my own horses. I've shown both English and Western, and I have much experience with gymkhana (games on horseback). Some of my vast knowledge about horses is shared in 'The Magic Wishbone'. In this story you will learn things about horses that you most likely didn't know before. I'm looking forward to writing more stories about horses and sharing my knowledge with my readers. These stories are written through the magical lenses of a child's eyes. My love for beautiful Fort Bragg and Noyo Harbor vividly comes alive in these stories. Blessed are those who live there today.
