There's a dead body, an eye-witness, and mounting circumstantial and what appears to be hard evidence against defendant Frank Williams and his defense attorney Walter Allison. It's a "too good to be true" situation for District Attorney, Martin Perry; a lock with certain conviction. More importantly, it's the opportunity to finally triumph over the pompous Walter Allison. It could be the DA's long awaited payback for a very public and devastating defeat at the hands of Walter Allison several years earlier. Martin Perry will personally prosecute. However, the confident Defense Attorney, Walter Allison is not easily intimidated. He confers with his client, reviews evidence and comes to the conclusion, right or wrong, that Mr. Williams is innocent and that he will defend him. After his initial review, he determines the best option for investigators who will do the digging is Sam Buchner and Chris Johnson, the renowned team and owners of SANC Investigations. If all else fails, Allison, with one goal in mind, knows full well that all witnesses have closets, most with skeletons, and he has already taken note of the teacher eye-witness. Will he have to expose the gay lifestyle of the eye-witness school teacher, Roger Wells or will Chris, an "out" but not publicly so, gay investigator be able to save the school teacher's reputation and teaching career? But no one could foresee the pending potential destruction of SANC Investigations that could demand a price too high. Sam's life appears to be ended when innocent investigations for the defense uncovers his beloved wife Lonnie in an unfaithful relationship with the husband of one of the prosecution's witnesses. Chris' longtime love and devotion for Sam, though unfulfilled, causes his own pain that may even overshadow Sam's devastation over the apparent loss of his wife's love. Only through strength, wisdom and his knowledge and understanding of Sam can Chris possibly save him from the self-destructive path that his unfaithful wife has set him on. Allison's defense of Mr. Williams, the integrity of SANC and preservation of the integrity of the eye-witness with whom he identifies will all depend on Chris. Through it all will Sam be able to save his marriage to Lonnie or will he end the pain in a most unretractable manner? Will Chris' love for Sam be revealed? If it is, will Sam be able to accept that fact that a man is in love with him? Will SANC Investigations survive? As the trial proceeds, will the undaunted Allison, in spite of the DA's strenuous objections to his courtroom theatrics, be able to inject the essential "reasonable doubt." A 20 minute deliberation can be good or bad, but what does it really determine and for whom?
About the Author: Michael J. Banni grew up in the mid-west. While his life in the parochial schools he attended was rather uneventful, his tour in the US Navy couldn't be considered mundane as he was in the Submarine Service. After the Navy, he spent many years in the computer industry before retiring from that line of work. His next adventure began in 2010, working in the entertainment industry making independent films. Although he worked as a director, writer, producer, and general crew member, his real enjoyment came from acting. He was featured in six feature films as well as many student films, short films and videos for internet distribution. Although he has published computer related technical articles and white papers in technical publications, this book is his first fiction novel.
