About the Author: Kjell Espmark föddes 1930 i den lilla jämtländska staden Strömsund. Han är poet, författare och litteraturvetare. Han har varit verksam som professor i litteraturvetenskap vid Stockholms universitet fram till sin pensionering 1995 och har skrivit ett stort antal essäer om den svenska modernismen. Sedan 1981 är han ledamot av Svenska Akademien och han har även varit ordförande i dess Nobelkommittén. Espmark debuterade som poet 1956 och har sedan dess sedan publicerat tolv diktsamlingar, i vilka han kritiskt granskar Sveriges och Europas historia. Dessutom har han givit ut romansviten Glömskans tid som består av sju korta romaner och behandlar det samtida svenska samhället. Hans verk har översatts till ett tjugotal språk och han har också tilldelats flera internationella litterära priser. På spanska finns tidigare utgivet en diktantologi med namnet Röster utan grav, samt diktsamlingarna Vintergata och Den inre rymden och romanen Béla Bartók mot Tredje riket, samtliga i översättning av Francisco J. Uriz. Dessutom finns en omfattande historik om Nobelpriset i litteratur i översättning av Marina Torres. ----------------- Kjell Espmark nació en 1930 en Strömsund, pequeña ciudad de la norteña provincia de Jämtland, en Suecia. Es poeta, novelista, e investigador literario. Fue catedrático de Literatura comparada en la Universidad de Estocolmo hasta su jubilación en 1995, y es autor de una importante obra ensayística, en la que destacan sus trabajos sobre poesía moderna. Es miembro de la Academia Sueca desde 1981 y fue presidente de su comité Nobel. Debutó como poeta en 1956 y desde entones ha publicado doce poemarios en los que pasea su mirada crítica por Suecia y la historia de Europa, además de una serie de siete novelas sobre la Suecia de nuestros días que llevan el título general de Tiempo de olvido. Su obra ha sido traducida una veintena de idiomas y ha obtenido numeroso premios internacionales. En castellano se ha publicado una amplia selección de su obra poética con el título de Voces sin tumba, los poemarios Vía Láctea y El espacio interior, la novela Béla Bartók contra el tercer Reich, todas traducidas por Francisco J. Uriz, y un extenso ensayo sobre el premio Nobel, traducido por Marina Torres.
