Si te contara: cuatro reportajes con músicos cubanos, es el fruto de una investigación intensa que Jairo Grijalba Ruiz realizó en los Estados Unidos y en las Antillas en un período de veintiocho años, que incluyó una serie de entrevistas con tres músicos cubanos: Panchito Riset, Orlando Collazo y Osvaldo Rodríguez. También se incorpora al texto, la conversación que el autor sostuvo con Marlena María Elías, fanática de Marcelino Guerra, quien recordó algunas de sus experiencias al lado de este destacado cantante, compositor y guitarrista fallecido en 1996. EL autor logró reconstruir, gracias a sus entrevistas, episodios desconocidos de la historia de la música cubana desde las voces de sus protagonistas: sus memorias se remontaban a las barriadas bulliciosas de La Habana, a los solares periféricos del barrio de Luyanó, a los campos agrestes de Los Arabos, a las fábricas de cerveza donde organizaban conciertos formidables y a las tascas solariegas frente al malecón, donde jóvenes y ancianos con sus guitarras ensayaban canciones hasta que el sol despuntaba en el horizonte. Al fragor de las conversaciones también llegaron los vientos ciclópeos de la revolución política que sacudió a esta isla del Caribe a finales de los años cincuenta, y que dejó a más de un millón y medio de cubanos dispersos en el mundo. Esta investigación, además de penetrar en el espíritu musical de la isla, logra sumergirnos en la vida cotidiana de los cubanos, tanto en su tierra natal como en otras geografías trazadas por las rutas del exilio. En este libro se explora la vida de Panchito Riset, Marcelino Guerra, gran guitarrista e inspirado, autor de Me voy pa'l pueblo y coautor de Convergencia. El tercer músico, es Orlando Collazo, el cantante de La Charanga de Neno González. El cuarto músico, es el maestro Osvaldo Rodríguez, cantautor y guitarrista cubano, considerado uno de los grandes renovadores del bolero y de la canción de amor. Fundador del Cuarteto Voces del Trópico que después se convirtió en el legendario grupo rockero Los 5U4.
