About the Book

Bobby Orr, one of the greatest hockey players of all time provided the Foreword for his friend and fellow Parry Sounder. Shooting for the Moon: The Bill Beagan Story is a book that will leave you smiling. It illustrates how the power of hard work, determination and a dash of good luck can build a successful career despite having little or no education or family wealth. Learn how Bill Beagan parlayed a Grade 10 education and a career as an ordinary soldier into a life that leads to retirement in style!
About the Author: Paul White is a research historian who specializes in biographical sketch writing as well as sports history. He has worked as a freelance writer publishing hundreds of newspaper and magazine articles, internet articles, websites, blogs and books. Although he has written about a variety of other topics, hockey, golf and travel are his passion. White has written about some of the greatest players ever to don a pair of hockey skates. These players include legends such as "Rocket" Richard and Jean Beliveau of the Montreal Canadiens; Detroit Red Wings' Hall of Fame players Harry Lumley, Alex Delvecchio and Bill Gadsby; Paul Henderson who etched his place in hockey history when he scored the dramatic game and series winning goal against the Russian Red Army in the 1972 Canada - Russia super series: and many other hockey players from past and present. Shooting for the Moon: The Bill Beagan Story is his fifth book and his third about hockey. He is a member of the Society for International Hockey Research (SIHR). Other Books by Paul White: The Hockey Scrapbook Great Centremen, Altitude Publishing Owen Sound the Port City, Dundurn The Maritime History of Georgian Bay, Parks Canada (co-authored with Larry Turner) Paul is a graduate of Trent University with an Honors Bachelor of Arts in History. In 2000 he was honored with a Heritage Ontario award for his work as a writer, historian and promoter of the history of the Georgian Bay region surrounding the port of Owen Sound. He and his wife Judy love to travel, play golf and enjoy nature together.
