About the Book

"Be careful what you wish for, my prince, for freedom has its own bargains. It comes with a cost. It is a prize for a price."

The Kingdom, which for over a decade has not had a proper king, is finally with the coronation of their precious Prince at hand. Children given holidays, and towns refurbished new, the entire nation is hyped for the glorious moment. However, it goes unnoticed that a banished convict thrives in the shadows of a faraway settlement whose existence might pose a threat to them all.

It is all sparked when Benny, a country farm-boy, is taken aback by a bright light in the woods one night and he, and his friend James sets out to get to its bottom. Little do they know of the breath-taking adventure that awaits them; from crossing over boundaries to getting imprisoned, from saving others to being the saved, and making friendships to losing them, that their lives are twisted in an epoch that will change everyone's destinies forever...

An adventure that takes place in the nostalgic setting of the late 1800s, "A shelved story: GYROPPA" is a story of love, friendship, family, suspense, mystery, and action - a summer fantasy for people of all ages to read and enjoy.

About the Author: Tharuka Jayadewa was born in October 27, 1995, in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. He is the youngest of two to Mr. Jayadewa, a car salesman, and Darshani (mother), a simple housewife. His older sister is a graduate in medicine. Highly enthusiastic and self-motivated, Tharuka was a competitive student at school, unafraid to explore the different forms of arts, which skills he has exhibited through his other hobbies such as painting, digital art, singing, writing and poetry. Tharuka showed his talent at story at a very young age, the earliest being in year 2 of school, where he wrote a page's length fantasy story that impressed his teacher and his family. He has since enjoyed weaving stories and tales that have ended up on sheets of paper and notebooks mostly gone forgotten. English lessons were a pure joy to him, especially creative-writing. Also, countless have been the lunch hours he has spent in the worlds of books. Motivated by the many works he has read, the inspiration to officially pen down his own story for publication came to him after he graduated from school and one day leisurely read through some of his old incomplete works. His very first work of fiction, "A shelved story: Gyroppa" is the fruit of the slaving that followed. Already published and in circulation in Sri Lanka, the manuscript was completed during the first two years of his engineering degree. He has stated that irrespective of his passion for story, it was written solely for his readers; to provide them the escape and the "feeling" that book lovers want and understand. The reviews he has received for "A shelved story: GYROPPA" is a testimony of this.
