Blurb for Shards of Glass:
Did Project Phoenix really exist? Kate had to know the truth...about a lot of things.
Kate watched Ramon approach the plane. Why had he betrayed me? Did our love mean nothing to him? How could she still have feelings for the man who had so easily inducted her into the most dangerous and clandestine organization on the planet--the world of Black Ice.
"I need to talk to you about Black Ice."
"You mean the place where all of you spies work? What about it?"
"Well, you know that once we are there, you will go directly into training, and I will go on other missions."
Kate felt her stomach take an abrupt lurch. "What are you saying, Ramon? I'm not going into any kind of training. I'm not part of your organization, and I never will be."
Ramon watched her closely as he continued, "Kate, the minute that you found out about the organization, you became an active member."
Kate's eyebrows lifted in surprise. "You have got to be kidding. This is a joke. Right?"
"No, it's not a joke. I'm sorry. I should have mentioned something earlier, but...."
"...But you didn't want to do or say anything that would affect my making love to you. Right? I get it. Like James Bond--every mission has to have a conquest and lucky me. I got to be one of the special chosen."
"It wasn't like that, Kate."
"Wasn't it? You used me to get what you wanted, and now that you have it, you are moving on with your life, while I am left to become a prisoner to some stupid undercover organization. Well, you've got the wrong person, Ramon. I won't. Got that?"
Large blue eyes filled with unshed tears...then the tears spilled and ran down her cheeks--like tiny shards of broken glass as her stoic composure finally broke. Her words had been brave, but could she escape the world of Black Ice?
Blurb for Doubletake:
Since meeting Ramon, Kate's life had had gone from simple to complex. Since meeting his double, the complexity had increased ten-fold. Everything centered around the top-secret mission entitled Project Phoenix.
The secret had taken her parents from her and threatened everything she held dear--even Ramon. She could barely deal with the first Ramon, and, now, there were two of them. Would her grandmother's plan work? Could Lady Eleanor save them?
"Eleanor stared up at Jason. He showed little reaction to Eleanor's bold accusation that he had killed Rebecca and Phillip to get the map...Tears welled up in her eyes, but before they could spill onto her cheeks, she had a sobering thought. If he was capable of this level of duplicity, what hope did she have of saving Kate--or herself, for that matter?"
