About the Book

Ray's Dad disappeared two years ago and now her Granny has Alzheimer's. Ray will not let them go quietly into any dark night. She is willing, like Inanna, and the heroes of all time to descend into hell if she must. Ray has heard that the Elixir of Immortality lies within the hidden Kingdom of Shambhala. Ray Travels with her Mother and her Mother's latest boyfriend to a remote region of Western Nepal. Her Mother who is normally risk-averse gets abducted in a royal coup and Ray is trapped in a False Shambahala with others who have been there for many lifetimes. Rai, Ray's namesake and a local honey hunter, assists Ray in seeing through illusions and escaping.

Can Ray find her lost Father, rescue her abducted Mother, and bring her Granny back to a healthy engagement with life? Ray shows us that she, by means fair and foul, is willing to do whatever it takes, including flying a float plane and riding through God's House, a never-before descended set of rapids on the Kali Gandaki river.

Shambhala is a work of magical realism, a look into an ancient dystopian world and at the same time it is realistic fiction - so you learn about the natural sciences and regional politics while immersed in a compelling adventure story; a story that celebrates the beauty and awesome power of nature and shows us how ancient Bon teachings can be relevant in today's world. Shambhala is also a coming-of-age story where Ray learns that Shambhala does not lie in a specific location but is revealed to those who can see with the eyes of the heart.

Truly an adventure story for seekers of all ages. Shambhala is a stand-alone novel in the Ray Adventure Series.
