About the Book

Since 2009, J. Michael Spaur has been writing adult fiction, fantasy, and adult romance, along with poetry and assorted ponderings, which reflect upon the issues and behaviors he has noticed not only within his own life, but socially in general. With this latest offering, The Shadows Danced, he offers us a brief glimpse into a slightly darker and far more personal side of himself. From a father's limitless pride and love for his daughter, to personal sorrow, a tortured soul, and even touching on love rekindled and then lost again, he draws from his own life to paint the reader a raw, vivid and emotional portrait of his own soul. With his willingness to explore the darker sides of human nature and social taboos, Mr. Spaur finds himself no stranger to both critical and controversial reviews. If asked, he simply smiles and says, "They only complain and criticize because they always seem to find something that hits home - or worse, stirs something inside of them that they'd rather not admit to."
About the Author: J. Michael Spaur has been writing Fantasy and Dark Romance, along with poetry since 2009, with his first novel, The Heartsong Chronicles: Book One, Open Season, being released November of that year. An avid outdoorsman and horseman, Mr. Spaur spends much of his free time either hiking of the late evening or out and about on his motorcycle enjoying a simpler way of life surrounded by those he loves. A proud father, Mr. Spaur never misses a chance to brag about his daughter, Sarah Rain Spaur; or his younger sisters and his brother. Strongly devoted to living for what is right and good, Mr. Spaur worked for over ten years in public safety, paramilitary specialized security and investigations. He has also volunteered in multiple counties throughout Eastern North Carolina, assisting in multiple narcotics investigations since the age of eighteen. Now, semi-retired due to physical conditions stemming largely from an ATV rollover at the age of fifteen; Mr. Spaur spends a great deal of his time in back in North Carolina where he is known to enjoy a Sunday morning cigar and a cup of coffee with various friends at the A&E Stop & Shop in the small community of Ernul. A self described creature of habit, Mr. Spaur celebrates each completed manuscript with a glass of Duplin wine and a cigar while listening to an eclectic collection of classic country and rock and roll music. As a rule of thumb, Mr. Spaur does not schedule many public signing events, as he prefers to sidestep the limelight a bit, citing the fact that while his work may be available on a virtually global level, he prefers to hold fast to his own blue-collar roots. Mr. Spaur will readily tell anyone who asks that he sees absolutely no need to allow his successes as a writer alter who he is as an individual. He can, however be reached to schedule a local appearance or to arrange a signing through his public page on Facebook, or via regular mail at: J. Michael Spaur c/o Midnight Moon Publishing 780 Maul Swamp Road Vanceboro, North Carolina, 28586 Or Via Telephone at (252) 375-0345
