About the Book

The Wheel of Context for Sexuality Education was created as a practical framework to ensure that educators, advocates, and researchers in the field of sexuality education maintain a holistic perspective on a selected number of key contextual factors that may influence, hinder or catalyze our work. The Wheel of Context may also help provide a greater appreciation for the communities we serve and ultimately lead to more desirable outcomes for our programs or projects. It is not only a tool to build consensus and alignments at the onset of a project, but also a medium to facilitate dialogue among stakeholders, create solutions out of conflicting ideas and a measure to deepen our understanding about the root causes of unforeseen barriers and resistance that we may face.
About the Author: Dr. Sara Nasserzadeh, PhD is a Social Psychologist and thought leader in the field of Sexuality and Relationships. She is an award-winning author and host of a BBC World Service program on sexuality and relationship issues, which received the BBC's Innovation of the Year Award in 2007. With her unique background and extensive global experience, Dr. Nasserzadeh has worked with governments, international NGOs, professional organizations and private sector as a strategic consultant, cultural advisor, keynote speaker and commentator. Her international work in the area of human development and sexuality education has received the World Association for Sexual Health (WAS) runner-up award for Excellence and Innovation in 2007 and People of Distinction Humanitarian Award in 2014. She chairs the Middle East Sexual Health Committee at the World Association for Sexual Health and served at the Boards of various professional organizations including the WAS and the American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). Dr. Pejman Azarmina is an Iranian-American MD executive, author, speaker and thinkocrat. As an author, Azarmina published Common Medical Terms, an evidence-based prize-winning medical dictionary in 1997. In year 2001, he authored six bestselling titles named "My Doctor" to address an unmet need in public for medical information explained in plain language. Within the industry, his work was recognized leading innovative medical projects through cross-functional teams to enhance the value of much-needed tests, medical devices and medicines for the US and global markets. More recently, his interest in leadership development led to the formation of multiple tools, projects and initiatives aiming to develop the next generation of holistic leaders and systems thinkers under the umbrella term of Thinkocrats. The Wheel of Context is one of the concepts that he developed and refined with Dr. Nasserzadeh based on their Socratic dialogues and experience from field work over the past 10 years.
