About the Book

It's nearly midnight when a curious snoop finds his neighbors dead.

He gathers his wits and calls emergency services. Despite a thunderstorm, Sheriff's deputies, the Fire Department and an ambulance all respond quickly.

But there's little they can do; the victims are long dead. The snoop invites the emergency workers inside, out of the rain, to await the arrival of the coroner and the funeral home staff.

The lightning flashes... The thunder rolls... And the setting inspires the police, firefighters, and paramedics to pass the time by telling stories, both thrilling and chilling. And you are invited to join them.

In Seven For The Slab, Rondo award nominee Doug Lamoreux spins seven eerie tales of terror and mystery into one bewitching brew.

Praise from readers:

★★★★★ - "A must-read for anyone who enjoys a bit of humor, horror, mystery and suspense."

★★★★★ - "If you are a fan of the unusual, and things that go bump in the night, you will love this book."

★★★★★ - "Perfect for Halloween!"

About the Author: Doug Lamoreux is the last, maybe the least, Renaissance man. He's a romantic dreamer, a melancholy man who laughs a lot. He's a father of three strong sons and has two darling granddaughters. He grew up a horror film fan, and a child of Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine, but fought the dark urges and tried to live a normal life. He managed his own service station (back when gas stations provided service), supervised the Security Department for a metropolitan hospital, wrote newspaper sports, and became a professional firefighter / EMT. Civil service was in the cards, since his late father and a brother had both been cops. Finally he surrendered to nature, recognized his incompatibility with the rest of the world, and gave it up to create. He became an actor and a writer.

As an actor, he did a bit of everything; commercial voice work, audio book narration, radio (including the Left Behind and Left Behind: The Kids shows). He played three characters, was shot off a roof, blown up, and knocked into a horse trough three times a day in a Wild West stunt show, he twisted balloon animals in a clown costume at a hardware store grand opening. He spent forty years on and off the legitimate stage, singing (he's a baritone), dancing (he's a hack), and only fell off the stage twice. He picked up a few acting awards along the way, none you've heard of. An instinctive performer, Doug approached theater like the great Spencer Tracy, learning his lines and trying not to bump into furniture. Beyond that, he denies any acting method and acting theory, he reports, bores the hell out him. He appeared in fifty different productions, then quit counting. In the movies, Doug appeared in Mark Anthony Vadik's The Thirsting (aka Lilith) with Mickey Rooney - and was stabbed to death. He starred in Peter O'Keefe's Infidel - and was strangled. In Boris Wexler's The Arab, he was blown to smithereens. Sensing a pattern, Doug took up writing full-time. He now puts out swell horror novels.
