Sobre el autor:
WILHELMUS À BRAKEL (1635-1711),
nació en Leeuwarden, Holanda. Estudió teología en las universidades de Franeker y Utrecht y fue particularmente influenciado por su mentor, Gisbertus Voetius. Sirvió como pastor en cuatro congregaciones. Después de un fructífero ministerio de 49 años, le agradó al Señor llevar a este eminente teólogo a su hogar celestial a la edad de 76 años.
