About the Book

People have so many levels. So many secrets. When feeling alone, remaining stuck is inevitable. But new people have the power to change your perspective, and then lead you onto a path you never envisioned. It's New York City, 1938, when a streetwalker, about to end her life, unexpectedly collides with the strangers that will change everything. 'Bullfrogs' depicts honest emotions and true human interactions. The trauma cuts deep and the sexuality is raw. Falling into these characters' psyches is escaping into worlds of prostitution with Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec in France's Moulin Rouge in the 1890's. Under the spell of a spiritual Injun, you'll ride the psychedelic musical trances that mimic the bullfrogs and antelopes on the hillsides of Shawnee, Oklahoma. Transcend to Jerry's barbershop and square dance under the Mason Dixie line in the 1920's. And crawl below "Pennsy's"railroad tracks with some hilarious underground hobos.Meet Fanny, Willamena, Jimmy Red Fox, and Bella. These four strangers couldn't be more different, yet share one commonality: having fled abusive pasts, they are completely lost. But teenager Willamena has an undeniable gift to sing opera. All dedicate their existence to transforming the hillbilly soprano into a star at NYC's Metropolitan Opera House. But tackling music's most sophisticated genre is no easy obstacle. The biz is unapologetic and cutthroat. Training is constant and overwhelmingly taxing. Learning proper techniques and memorizing the foreign arias encompasses their lives inside Fanny's cramped apartment on West 55th Street. The music mimics their mutual mistrust and annoyances. Opposing teaching styles, Fanny's late night, violent, drunken Johns and the Met's snobby head voice coach's sneaky sabotages turn melodic harmonious into eerie, chaotic dissonances. The only was to achieve success is to fully understand each other's tormented pasts. Yet unity is not enough to propel a stubborn, small town cowgirl to stardom...especially when catastrophic events lurking under the five-story staircase threaten our bullfrog's limbs and vocal chords.Raunchy, gritty, nature-inspired, and romantic, 'Serenading The Bullfrogs' is a tale of triumphs, failures, pain, love, family, and survival. From spectacular greenery to the concrete cities, the illustrative sceneries are as captivating and contrasting as the array of colorful characters.
