Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Psychologie - Medienpsychologie, Note: 1,3, Universität zu Köln (Psychologisches Institut der Universität zu Köln), Veranstaltung: Arbeits-Organisations-Kommunikation-und Medienpsychologie, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Film- und FernsehzuschauerInnen erleben bei der Rezeption von Filmen mit traurigen und tragischen Inhalten intensive Gefühle, die normalerweise als unangenehm beurteilt werden, wie Trauer, Verzweiflung, Angst oder Hoffnungslosigkeit. Der kommerzielle Erfolg der 'Tearjerker' (amerikanischer Begriff für 'Schnulzen') oder Dramen und Tragödien in Fernsehen und Kino zeigt, dass die Rezipienten diese Art des Mediums als Entertainment wahrnehmen und folglich Filme, die traurige Gefühle auslösen, gezielt aufzusuchen scheinen. Dieses "Paradoxon" wird seit Anfang der 90er Jahre versucht in Studien im Rahmen medienpsychologischer Forschung zu ergründen und als Sad Film Paradoxon bezeichnet. Inwieweit Rezipienten ihr subjektives Erleben während der Rezeption beschreiben und wie sie sich selbst die Frage nach den Gratifikationen beantworten, die sie aus diesem Medienangebot erhalten bzw. warum sie gezielt nach diesem Medium greifen (Empathie, Identifikation mit den Charakteren, Selbsterfahrung, Lernen etc.), ist auf diesem qualitativen Weg bisher noch nicht untersucht worden. Diese Arbeit soll deshalb einen explorativen Beitrag leisten und widmet sich mithilfe einer qualitativen Einzelfallstudie unter anderen der Frage, warum sich Personen mit dieser Art von Filmen mit traurigen Inhalten "entertainen". Zum anderen geht es aber auch um die Frage, wie die Rezipienten diese Art des Mediums wahrnehmen und welchen Nutzen sie aus der Rezeptionssituation ziehen. Von zentraler Bedeutung ist hierbei das persönliche Erleben bzgl. der Selektion und Rezeption trauriger Filme. Des weiteren sollen sich dadurch zusätzlich auch Hinweise ergeben, was der Einzelne überhaupt unter einem "traurigen" Film versteht. Da hier davon ausgegan
