Im Umgang mit einer neuen Heterogenität hat es sich herausgestellt, dass Vielfalt in der Belegschaft als eine Ressource für die Betriebe fungieren kann. Vor diesem Hintergrund haben sich Strategien eines Diversity-Managements entwickelt, mit denen sich auch deutsche Unternehmen zunehmend beschäftigen. Diversity-Management sollte in der Umsetzung nicht nur der Profilierung einer Organisation dienen, eine leere Worthülse verkörpern oder als eine "von oben" erzwungenen Management-Strategie empfunden werden. Vielmehr sollte es zu einer neuen Unternehmenskultur kommen, die ein Umdenken der Mitarbeiter mit sich bringt, was sich auch im Handeln und den Organisationsstrukturen niederschlagen sollte. Bei der Etablierung eines Diversity-Managements können unterschiedliche Schwerpunkte gelegt werden und die Umsetzung kann durch vielfältige Instrumente vollzogen werden. In den letzten Jahrzehnten hat die Lernform des Selbstgesteuerten Lernens mehr und mehr an Bedeutung in der Erwachsenenbildung gewonnen und ist ein wertvoller Bestandteil didaktischen Handelns geworden. Da es in der Literatur immer wieder betont wird, dass die Maßnahmen der neuen Management-Strategie nicht nur als von oben erlassen empfunden werden sollen, wird sich diese Arbeit damit auseinandersetzen, inwiefern Maßnahmen eines Diversity-Managements das Selbstgesteuerte Lernen unterstützen können.
