About the Book

"Fiery crash shortly before midnight claims the life of beloved rock star Damon La Rosa..."The world mourned the tragic news that forty-three-year-old Damon La Rosa died when the car he was driving went off the side of a cliff, exploding into flames with him trapped inside. As Arizona's favorite son, not only did Damon quickly rise to fortune and fame as one of the greatest rock stars the music industry had ever seen, he was also hugely influential when marching band rosters began exploding with students; mostly wanting to play percussion - same as their idol had when he was in high school. When his Last Will and Testament was read it was discovered that Damon had a camp built on fifteen acres of his property and donated it to the Arizona Marching Band Association for use as a summer band camp. Every camp has its mysterious legend or eerie tales of hauntings and Camp La Rosa is no different. But are the stories really only fabricated?July 31, 2014 marked the fifth anniversary of Damon's death. As people from all over the world made their way to the crash site vigil, the Apollo Marching Hawks were full swing into what should have been a simple, nothing-too-exciting week at Camp La Rosa. What happens one chilling night in the woods changes all of their lives forever, forcing them into keeping a foreboding secret.
About the Author: Juliet D. Jones was born in Nuremberg, Germany to American parents and grew up ARMY. She spent her first six years living in Alabama while her father served three tours in Vietnam. Her family ultimately landed in Arizona, where she has lived for 35 years. Juliet tragically lost her brother in 1997, unexpectedly lost her dad and became a single mom in 2001, and lost her mom to cancer in 2003. Although she has not finished her Bachelor's degree she is goal-oriented in one day returning to her studies and completing her college. She has been writing in one form or another since the age of six and after more than 11 years of receiving encouragement to write, Juliet found the inspiration she needed to complete and publish her first novel from being a band mom. From the Author The Tacet Septenary Series is truly a family effort. My oldest daughter is my cover model and the face of The Secret They Kept. My youngest daughter is heavily involved with her high school's marching band via Guard during field season and Winter Guard during spring semester - this makes me a band parent and official Guard mommy (I'm usually the one covered in glittered with bobby pins hanging from the bottom of my shirt and hair bands going up my arm like bracelets from the 80's). This book was inspired by the character, personalities, sense of family and loyalty, youthful spirit, and dedication of her marching band family; however, the story and characters are explicitly fiction. I became increasingly frustrated with how incredibly difficult it can be to raise funds for performing arts programs and it seems that whenever funding is an issue these are the first programs to be adversely affected. The life skills that performing arts kids learn and build in these programs are crucially important for their future successes in all areas of their lives. It truly is so much more than just the thrill of performing their passions and these programs should not be at risk.
