Un Africain né à Cyrène, dans la Libye actuelle, Marc a effectué les enseignements de Jésus en Afrique et a fondé la communauté Copte et les Grecs orthodoxes d'Alexandrie, Égypte, plus de 300 ans avant la conversion du continent principal de l'Europe. Ces églises proclament qu'il a écrit le premier Évangile, est devenu le premier Évêque d'Alexandrie et pour une fois a pris sa retraite à Cyrène, avant de retourner à Alexandrie où il fut martyrisé. L'apôtre Matthieu a apporté le Christianisme à l'extrémité sud du Nil au Soudan et en Éthiopie, où il continue d'exister jusqu'à ce jour, 2000 ans plus tard, tout comme l'église de Saint Thomas en Inde, fondée par l'apôtre. Le travail missionnaire de Marc et de Matthieu, leur courage et leurs martyre est retracé dans ce volume, numéro quatre des Chroniques Cyrénéennes.
About the Author: Xavier Carelse était un professeur d'université à la retraite, qui s'est spécialisé dans la physique industrielle et l'ingénierie électronique. Il avait publié des articles scientifiques, livres et manuels universitaires, certains avec son épouse, Orseline, biochimiste. Il s'est adressé à des conférences et des ateliers en Afrique, aux États-Unis, en Europe et en Asie. Né à Kimberley, Afrique du Sud, le 11 mars 1933, il était un descendant des Indonésiens qui ont été transportés comme esclaves à la poste de traite à la pointe sud de l'Afrique, actuellement, la ville du Cap. Il était vraiment un représentant de la 'Nation Arc-en-ciel', après avoir dérivé d'ancêtres indiens sous contrat, et des mercenaires anglais Griquas, les gens du néerlandais et descente Khoisan. En 1954, il était diplômé de l'Université de Fort Hare, fondée en 1916, la plus ancienne université moderne pour les Africains. Après 70 années en vivant et travaillant dans cinq pays d'Afrique, et voyageant à dix-sept, il a acquis une profonde connaissance et une expérience directe de la diversité des cultures et les réalisations Africaines. Il a estimé que ce point était souvent caché par les Africains eux-mêmes, ou usurpé ou déformé par d'autres. En 2015, l'alma mater de Xavier Carelse, l'Université de Fort Hare, en Afrique du Sud, lui a décerné le grade de Docteur en sciences (honoris causa), pour ses réalisations et sa contribution à l'Afrique dans les domaines de la science, de l'éducation et du développement culturel. Il rejoint les rangs de Nelson Mandela, Steve Biko, Miriam Makeba et bien d'autres Africains que cette institution a donné l'honneur. Les quatre romans historiques de Xavier Carelse, Les Enfants de Cham, Les Voyages de l'Iyanda, Rédemption et, le Scribe et le Collecteur d'Impôts, ont été mis à l'apogée de l'Empire Romain, et a affirmé sa mission de corriger les fausses représentations des réalisations Africaines dans les domaines de la technologie, le commerce, les structures de gouvernement et de la religion. Le 26 mars 2017, Xavier Carelse est décédé.
