About the Book

The Scrapbook is a story of human interaction with divine intervention. Readers will easily relate to the interesting and diverse characters as their life stories are pieced together from present to past and then present again. As so often happens with many of us, life seems to continue forward in the same monotonous direction; void of meaning or purpose. Our daily functions remain safely within the boundaries of the self-imposed comfort zones we have mindlessly set in place. So it was with Glenda Ashbury until she uncovered the remnants of one girl's life adventure preserved in an old, worn scrapbook. Can memorabilia from a past life adventure motivate and influence someone to seek and discover their present life's purpose? When you read the stories of the lives presented in The Scrapbook you will understand the profound affect our lives can have as the result of exposure to another person's experiences.
About the Author: Jody Preister and husband, Bob, live just outside Humphrey, Nebraska where they enjoy the many pleasures of a simple life. When not writing, she enjoys spending time with their grandchildren, helping out at their church, or dabbling in the visual arts. Her most pleasurable activity is riding with Bob on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Jody writes from life experience, adding a lot of imagination and seasons her stories with just the right amount of faith, hope and love. This second novel was inspired from a short journal discovered after her mother's death. Her mother's handwritten notes recorded a time during the depression when she and her two sisters traveled with their mother to California working odd jobs and performing as acrobats and contortionists. The four women lived and worked in the Los Angeles' area for approximately eight months before returning to Nebraska. With her mother's notes and a vivid imagination Jody has woven together a series of events leading to a tender and captivating love story which leaves the reader pondering that perhaps there really are no coincidences in life. Although some of the events presented in "The Scrapbook" might be based on real life experiences, only those who know the family history very well will be able to unravel the possible truth from the purely fictional. The Scrapbook was awarded Semi-Finalists in the 2008 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Contest and received the following positive affirmation from one Amazon Top Reviewer: "A worthwhile story of a woman who buys an old scrapbook to peruse and the life story that the book tells. This excerpt holds so much promise. The writing is top-notch. The author's transition between past and present is seamlessly, beautifully done. This is a book that I would rank up there with Nicolas Sparks' The Notebook." The following are a sampling of customer reviews from Amazon: "It put tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat and a sweet melody in my heart." "This would make a great Lifetime movie!" "Jody's first book, Third & Grace was very interesting and I have read and re-read it several times. I know this one will be as good or better!" "The writer has an expressive way of using words to describe the feelings and events of the storyline enabling you to vividly visualize the scene as if you were watching it on screen!" "This story really touched me. It's an important story, the kind that matters in the grand scheme of things."
