About the Book

Sumer Is Icumen In! Welcome to the fifth anniversary edition of Schlock! Webzine, celebrating half a decade as purveyors of the finest online schlock fantasy, science fiction and horror. This week we have six new stories, all from established Schlock contributors, plus the latest instalments of the current serials, The Rocking Dead by Joseph Rubas, 20, 000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne, and John Buchan's creepy classic Witchwood. A Russian raised in the Raj is Scattering Ashes in MS Swift's story of spiritualism and snobbery. Meanwhile ghostly gunslingers and Roman soldiers meet in early 20th century Cumbria with horrific consequences-it can only be a return from Gary Murphy. In The Rocking Dead, MiShawn encounters The Governator. Hillbillies and hunters are On the Track of an Answer in the hills of Appalachia in Paul Lubaczewski's tale. Meanwhile, a pickup line leads to a new man in Mark Slade's Shape I'm In. Zahid Zaman has a story of Lynchean surrealism in Waking From A Dream, while a voice speaks from beyond the grave in Joseph Patchen's Be Mine. 20, 000 Leagues under the Sea, Professor Aronnax and friends explore the wonders of the Indian Ocean, while in the Witchwood, David Semphill awakes after a night in the woods....
About the Author: M. S. Swift writes pagan suffused horror and fantasy. He spends his spare time chasing his sun with a wooden sword and summoning forth spirits from the running waters and shining skies. His work has previously appeared in Schlock webzine and bi-monthly, 'Cthulhu Lies Dreaming' from Ghostwood books and 'Detectives of the Fantastic IV' from 'Horrified Press'. Gary Murphy lives in Egremont, Cumbria, where he writes full-time. Recent successes include novellas Hellish Redcap and Vampire Avenues. And also, the upcoming novella, Kooky, the story of a haunted skinhead. Joseph Rubas is the author of over 200 short stories, many nonfiction pieces, several novels, and a nonfiction book. His work has appeared in: The Horror Zine; Eschatology Journal; Nameless Digest; The Storyteller; Horror Bound Online; and many others. His short fiction is collected in Pocketful of Fear (2012) and After Midnight (2014). He currently resides with his family in Florida. Paul Lubaczewski has done a lot of different things in his life. He was the lead singer of the NYC Punk Band The Repressed in the late 80's and early 90's. From there he found the Society for Creative Anachronisms which he participated in for a decade as a member of the Mountain Confederation. He has also caved heavily and contributed articles for both NSS News and Speleo-Digest. He was also an editor for Los Angeles music magazine "Spark-Plug Magazine." He's married with one son at home in Appalachia, with two adult daughters living in his native Pennsylvania His photography is view-able on both Redbubble and Fine Art America and in his spare time he is the owner of the Facebook horror page A Touch Of Evil and a contributor to the horror page Long Live The Horror. Mark Slade has appeared in Dark Fairy Tales, We Walk Invisible, and Demonic Visions 1-3, Schlock! Webzine, and other publications. His first book A Six Gun and the Queen of Light was published in 2013 by Horrified Press, and earlier in the year Hellspeak was published by Death Throes. A new book, Electric Funeral, has been published by Sunbury Press. He lives in Williamsburg, VA with his wife and daughter. Zahid Zaman is a horror and thriller fiction stories author whose work springs forth from the deepest depths of the human psyche. Joseph J. Patchen's work has appeared in print, online and on podcasts. He is the literary critic for www.lurid-lit.com and you can read more about him at josephjpatchen.weebly.com
