About the Book

Twelve-year-old Patrick is a bored, potato farmer's son, irritated with his sister's nagging and his ordinary life. He dreams of adventure, but never expects these dreams to come true until he meets a leprechaun named Grady. Grady needs Patrick's help to rescue the rainbow, that has been stolen by trolls, along with the pot o' gold. After studying the boy from afar, Grady knows he's just the lad that will be up to a challenge like this. Aye, it was lucky he caught sight of the laddie in the first place. Patrick thinks of himself as fearless, especially after putting the frog in ole Ms. Flannigan's school satchel, so he's more than ready to go along on such a quest. The two set off on a journey across the Irish countryside, venturing into the demon-filled Black Forest where the trees come to life at sunset. They must cross a precarious foot bridge, face dark caves and are attacked by angry owls before Patrick endures the ultimate test of battling the trolls for the rainbow and pot o' gold. Will Patrick really be brave enough to rescue the rainbow? SAVING THE RAINBOW is a magical tale for children and young adults. It explores the nature of fantasy and reality, safety and danger, and what it means to grow up.
About the Author: Sunni Morris, the eldest of seven, was born in Houston, Texas, but raised south of there on a cotton farm. Childhood years consisted of rough times with barely enough to get by. Sunni's spare time was spent drawing or telling stories to her siblings. During her school years, she excelled in art eventually leading to some paintings hanging in galleries. The author became interested in fairy tales as a child and escaped her life in these stories about damsels in distress being rescued by brave knights in shining armor. These stories seemed to echo in her soul with dangers, conflicts, and a happy ending. A fantasy world where talking animals reside was another happy place, and she found herself writing her own short stories where these brave characters would pop into her head. As an adult, she took classes on writing and joined a writers group with thoughts of writing a book about growing up on the cotton farm. Since then, she's written numerous fairy tales and fantasy short stories and two self published fantasy novels. When it comes to writing, many ideas come from her knowledge of living and spending time in several states, meeting different people who have crossed her path, and her understanding of ancient times, as well as her love for the fantasy tale. Characters bloom in her mind in unbelievable dreams and move the author's spirit to tell their stories. The author never has let her hearing disability stand in her way as she pursues her writing career and other endeavors, even once taking a fencing class for novel research. A dream was the inspiration for SAVING THE RAINBOW. Sunni Morris lives in the desert southwest with her husband and six cats. This is her third novel.
