Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Kunst - Malerei, Note: 1,0, Ruhr-Universität Bochum (Institut für Kunstgeschichte), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Mittelpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit steht Botticellis Gemälde Minerva und Kentaur, das im Umfeld der Medici in den 1480er Jahren des Florentiner Quattrocento entstanden ist. Damit fügt es sich in einen Kontext ein, der so komplex ist mit den vielfältigen politischen, ökonomischen und kulturellen Dimensionen der Zeit, dass es die Kunstgeschichte bis heute zu einer enormen Fülle an Literatur und Interpretationsvorschlägen zu diesem Werk gebracht hat. Politisches Kalkül, intrafamiliärer Affront und moralisch-philosophische Intentionen werden in Botticellis Minerva und Kentaur zugleich entdeckt. Seit 1975 weiß man, dass das mythologische Werk in die Spalliere-Dekoration eines mediceischen Brautzimmers integriert war. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit einem Interpretationsansatz, der seitdem Botticellis Minerva als Identifikationsfigur für die Braut Semiramide Appiani, Gattin des Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de' Medici, betrachtet. Diesen Ansatz gilt es kritisch auf die Frage zu untersuchen, ob und inwiefern es überhaupt möglich war, Parallelen zwischen Botticellis Minerva und der Ehefrau Semiramide zu ziehen. Gab es nicht vielmehr zwei autonome, völlig unterschiedliche und unvereinbare Rollen der Frau im Florentiner Quattro-cento? Zum einen entstand im Kontext der mediceischen Turniere das Bild der keuschen Nymphe, die in der Lage war, die niederen männlichen Triebe zu zähmen. Zum anderen existierte daneben ein Geschlechterverhältnis, in dem die Frau hinter dem Mann zurücktrat, sich unterzuordnen hatte, fruchtbar und nicht keusch, zurückhaltend und nicht erotisch sein sollte. Die Arbeit schafft im ersten Teil die Grundlage der Argumentation, indem das Gemälde beschrieben und erste ikonografische Fragen geklärt werden.
