On t�chera 'e'ÿiter cet �cueil dans cette courte histoire de la vie de Moli�re on ne dira desa propre personne que ce qu'on a cru vrai et digne d'�tre rapport� on ne hasardera sur ses ouvrageswi'en qui soit contraire au sentiment du public �clair�. Jean-baptiste poquelin naqu1tapa1 15 en 1620, dans une maison qui subsiste encore sous les pi liers des lialles.' Son p�re joan-baptiste Poque lin valet de chambre tapissier chez le roi, mar chand fripier, _et Anne Boutet sa m�re, lui don n�rent une �ducation trop conforme' a leur �tat, auquel ils le destinoient il. Son go�t pour l'�tude se d�veloppa; il pre55a son grand - p�re d'obtenir qu'on le mit au coll�ge et il arracha enfin le consentement de son p�re, qui le mit dans une pension et l'envoya externe aux J�suites avec la r�pugnance d'un bourgeois qui croyoit la fortune de son fils perdue s'il �tu dioit. Le jeune Poquelin fit au coll�ge les progr�s qu'on devoit attendre de son empressement � y entrer. Il y �tudia cinq ann�es, il y suivit le cours des classes d'armand de Bourbon premier prince de Conti qui depuis fut le protecteur des lettres et de Moli�re.
