This novel set in the North Country of New York State explores gay adoption in an entertaining way for both gay and general audiences. Ean is a young gay man who works as a Forensic Case Manager at a social services agency, who has been married to Stacy, an Assistant District Attorney, for three years. Stacy feels compelled to adopt a child Ean names Tur (Rut spelled backwards), who is about to be placed in foster care. As their journey with Tur begins, Ean almost loses Stacy in a car accident with a male bull moose. Stacy dies suddenly after years of disability. Ean tries to start a new life with Tur without Stacy; however, he encounters many impediments ranging from suicidal thoughts to the Cinderella complex. Ean must overcome the final conflict of allowing Mark, a moose-obsessed Department of Conservation (DEC) worker, to fully enter his life or perish in loneliness. In the end, Ean triumphs as he allows Mark, a new male "bull", into his life.
About the Author: Bernard Amador, MA, ABD was born in New York City and is the author of the memoir/screenplay To Know Å Fallen Angel: Understanding the Mind of a Sexual Predator and his debut novel/screenplay CYBER-EUGENICS: The Neural Code. The Rut is his second novel. He is the Supervising Crime Victim Caseworker for the Albany County Crime Victim and Sexual Violence Center. Mr. Amador is a doctoral candidate at Northcentral University and has taught courses in forensic, abnormal and general psychology as an adjunct Instructor at The College of New Rochelle and the Borough of Manhattan Community College. He holds an M.A. in Forensic Psychology from Sage Graduate School, a B.A. in Forensic Psychology from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and a B.A. in Philosophy from Purchase College. He interned with the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Bureau of the U.S. District Attorney's Office in White Plains, New York, at the Mental Health Association of New York, and worked as a Forensic Case Manager with Treatment Alternatives to Street Crimes (T.A.S.C) of the Education and Assistance Program. Mr. Amador is a student member of the American Psychological Association, and the American Psychology-Law Society. His research interests include a variety of forensic-related topics in the field of psychology. Recently, he ran a survivor's writing workshop for ARIA (Awareness of Rape and Incest Through Art).
