Mit diesem Lehrbuch wird erstmals der Versuch unternommen, die Grundziige der Okonomie der Rundfunkunternehmen in Deutschland zusammenfassend darzustel- len. Zunehmend in den Jahren der Etablierung der dualen Rundfunkordnung, also des Nebeneinanders offentlich-rechtlicher und privater Rundfunkveranstalter, sind wirtschaftllche Fragen neben den friiher ganz iiberwiegend rechtlichen Betrachtun- gen in den Vordergrund wissenschaftlicher Untersuchung getreten. Dem haben sich schwerpunktmiillig auch einige Lehrstiihle wirtschaftswissenschaftlicher Fakultaten gewidmet, an der Spitze die der Kolner Universitat mit regelmaBigen Lehrveranstal- tungen und einem 1991 gegriindeten Institut flir Rundfunkokonomie. In enger Zusammenarbeit mit diesen wissenschaftlichen Einrichtungen, von denen beispiel- haft noch die Aktivitaten an den Universitaten Mannheim, Fribourg/Schweiz, Siegen, Dortmund sowie der Hochschule flir Verwaltung in Speyer erwahnt werden sollen, haben sich auch viele Praktiker des Rundfunks der grundlegenden und systematischen Durchdringung des vielfaltigen Problemfeldes angenommen. Der Autor bringt in die vorliegende Darstellung seine Erfahrungen aus Iangjahriger praktischer Rundfunktatigkeit ebenso ein wie die Erkenntnisse aus Vorlesungs-und Seminararbeit mit Studenten, Diplomanten und Doktoranten am Lehrstuhl flir Betriebswirtschaftslehre und Wirtschaftspriifung von Professor Sieben an der K61ner Universitat. Das Lehrbuch soll gleichermaBen dem wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs als Einstieg in diese neue Materie der Betriebswirtschaft dienen wie den mit Medienfragen betrauten Personen des offentlichen Lebens sowie dem an einer zusammengefaBten Darstellung der okonomischen Grundlagen interessierten Praktiker als Nachschla- gewerk niitzlich sein.
