"Do you recall the most famous reindeer of all?"
That's right--Rudolph. There was something special about him. Do you remember what it was? You got it--his shiny, red nose.
Some liked him, but most did not, because he wasn't like the other reindeer. They knew Rudolph was special, but they just laughed and called him names. They didn't even let him play in any reindeer games.
Then one Christmas Eve, Santa had a big problem. It was too foggy and dark for Santa to deliver his presents. That's when Santa asked Rudolph to use his bright and shiny nose to guide his sleigh that night.
Remember how the story ends? Because of Rudolph, all the children got Santa's gifts just in time. The other reindeer loved him, shouting, "Rudolph, you'll go down in history."
A Special Child
There is another favorite Christmas story about a real child who was different from all the others. People knew He was special. Even though He was born in a barn where the animals rested, kings traveled from far away to see the child and give Him expensive gifts. As soon as they saw Him, the kings bowed down and worshiped Him.
That child was Jesus. As He grew older and became a man, some people liked Him, but others made fun of Him and some even tried to hurt Him. You see, the world was a scary and dark place. People were doing bad things called sin. So God sent His Son, Jesus, the light of the world, to lead people out of the darkness of sin to God.
Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." John 8:12 (NLT)
The Bible says that anyone who does bad things (sin) lives in darkness and deserves to be punished. But Jesus took our place and paid the penalty for our sins when He died on the cross and rose to new life. That's how much He loves us.
The Bible says: The payment for sin is death. But God gives us the free gift of life forever in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 (NCV)
You'll Go Down in His Story!
Jesus wants to lead us out of the darkness of sin and give us eternal life. We just need to trust in Jesus and accept Him as our Guide and Savior. When you trust in Jesus, you, too, will go down in His Story!
The Bible tells us, "For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 (NLT)
If you want to trust in Jesus to be your Savior, then say a prayer like this:
"Jesus, I'm sorry I do bad things. Please forgive me. I believe You died on the cross and rose again to take away my sins. Thank You for letting me live in Your light and giving me eternal life.
