About the Book

Come to know the world of Rowtag. Engage in the values that permeate the native cultures of the Great Plains, such as respect for all forms of life, working for the common good and the connection with the universe. Accompany Rowtag on the journey assigned to him by the very spirit of the fire itself, through enchanted forests, interminable hills and inhospitable mountains, always to arrive ever further, reach ever higher...

Synopsis, First Part

In the first part develops the story based on the myths and the cosmovision of the Native Americans who inhabited the Great Plains of North America. In particular, it is concerned with a legend inspired in all of its forms by interpreting the world.

In a village of the Arapaho clan, at the shores of the river, resides Rowtag, a child of valiant spirit accustomed to living a pacific life next to his brother Takoda. Through sunny days among grasslands, forests and herds of bison, life passes by full of fun while Rowtag develops a connection with the world that surrounds him.
In his day-to-day life, Rowtag coexists with an ecosystem that forms in him profound values. The harmonic interaction with his environment is founded on respect for all forms of life. A quiet life in harmony with nature favors the development of humans capable of living without conflicts, focused on what is truly essential in life.

However, everything changes abruptly when, during the Spring ceremony...

When the moment comes, on the night of a springtime full moon, together with other children of his age, it is Rowtag's day to consult with the spirit of the fire. The wise spirit vouchsafes to Rowtag a task different from that of the other children. He must confront leaving his life near the river to embark on a journey that will drive him to grow and to know how to contribute his actions to the benefit of his community.

Forced migration, confrontation with maturity at a young age, expatriation, seeing a child obligated to leave their home to undertake dangerous passages are as present and timeless as the history of humanity itself. Rowtag sees himself as obliged to leave behind the amenities of his life in the village, venturing out upon a journey that includes diverse dangers. Rowtag would be required to show himself to be strong and valiant, to overcome all trials that come his way. Together with Victorio, his young horse and faithful spirit companion, he will travel through enchanted forests and hills dispersed throughout the landscape to cross the Rocky Mountains.

Guided by the spirits of nature, he will dedícate all of his efforts to achieve his purpose. Throughout his journey, Rowtag received the aid of animal spirits to be capable of identifying and interpreting distinct realities, despite the distractions and appearances. The child must find solutions by himself and experience diverse ways of resolving concrete situation.
The Valiant Arapaho will reflect on making decisions that will define his future, to be able to reach as far as possible in this long search through the route of the White Bison, among the peaks of the Rocky Mountains.
