La leyenda de Rowtag está conformada por dos partes:

Primera parte: el valiente Arapaho.

Segunda parte: el fin de una era.


Sinopsis primera parte


En la primera parte, se desarrolla la historia basada en los mitos y la cosmovisión de los nativos americanos que habitaron las grandes llanuras de Norteamérica. Se trata en particular sobre una leyenda inspirada en sus formas de interpretar el mundo.

En una aldea del clan Arapaho, a los márgenes del río, habita Rowtag, un niño de espíritu valiente acostumbrado a una vida pacífica junto a su hermano Takoda. A través de días soleados entre pastizales, bosques y manadas de bisontes, la vida transcurre cargada de diversión mientras Rowtag va desarrollando una conexión con el mundo que lo rodea.

En su día a día, Rowtag convive con un ecosistema que le va forjando profundos valores. La armónica interacción con su entorno se fundamenta en el respeto a todas las formas de vida. Una vida pacífica en armonía con la naturaleza favorece el desarrollo de seres humanos capaces de vivir sin conflictos, enfocados en lo esencial de la vida.

Sin embargo, todo cambia bruscamente durante la ceremonia de primavera...

Llegado el momento, durante una noche de plenilunio primaveral, junto con otros niños de su edad, a Rowtag le llega el día de consultar al espíritu del fuego. A Rowtag el espíritu sabio le asigna una tarea diferente a los demás niños. Se ve confrontado a dejar su vida junto al río para emprender una travesía que le impulsará a crecer y a saber cómo aportar sus acciones en beneficio de su comunidad.

La migración forzada, la confrontación a la madurez desde edad temprana, la expatriación, el ver un niño obligado a dejar su hogar para emprender travesías peligrosas es tan presente y atemporal como la misma historia de la humanidad. Rowtag se ve obligado a dejar la comodidad de la vida en la aldea, emprendiendo un viaje que incluye diversos peligros. Rowtag requerirá demostrarse fuerte y valiente, superar toda prueba que se le cruce el camino. Junto a Victorio, su joven caballo y fiel compañero de espíritu, viajará a través de bosques encantados y colinas dispersas por todo el paisaje con el fin de alcanzar las Montañas Rocosas.

Guiado por los espíritus de la naturaleza, entregará todas sus fuerzas para alcanzar su cometido. A lo largo de su travesía Rowtag recibe ayuda de espíritus animales para poder identificar e interpretar distintas realidades, a pesar de las distracciones y de las apariencias. El niño se ve obligado a encontrar soluciones por sí solo y a experimentar diversas maneras de resolver situaciones concretas.

El valiente Arapaho reflexionará para tomar decisiones que definirán su futuro, para poder llegar lo más lejos posible en esta larga búsqueda a través de la ruta del Bisonte Blanco, entre los picos de las Montañas Rocosas.
